Whatever your level of skiing or snowboarding, the secret to good skiing lies in the maintenance of your equipment, before, during and after the winter season. To fully enjoy the ski slopes, it is essential to have equipment that is adapted to the snow conditions. Our maintenance tips will help you gain in performance and precision, but also in safety. Indeed, the preparation of your equipment is just as important as a good physical preparation. 

To enjoy the pleasures of skiing, the maintenance of ski equipment is based on 3 essential steps: 

  • sharpening of the edges
  • waxing
  • scraping / brushing
Ski Wax

Sharpening

The ski edges are the metal edges located on the side of the ski. The sharpening stage will allow you to get a better grip on the snow and to have more engagement in order to link the turns. Sharpened edges ensure precision, balance and fluidity for the skier.

To sharpen your skis like a pro, use the PHANTOM SWIX sharpener. Thanks to its integrated file, all you have to do is choose the sharpening angle (from 85° to 90°). Its adjustment wheel allows you to slide it easily along the sole to obtain uniform and precise work. As for the 87° VOLA RACING square, it can be used with a file to keep a constant angle during the maintenance of the base. 

Waxing

Wax protects the base of the skis and prevents water penetration. An essential step in the preparation of your equipment, waxing allows you to glide efficiently on the snow without snagging thanks to the fluorine that repels moisture. 

The choice of wax depends on the outside temperature, the humidity level in the air and the type of snow (granulation).

SOLID OR LIQUID WAX ?

Easier to apply, the liquid wax is a spray that is intended for beginners as an extra wax. It can also be used for quick mid-season ski maintenance. As for solid wax, it requires more time to apply, more equipment and a certain know-how. But the result will be more professional and more durable.
