CAMPING TENT: HOW TO CHOOSE IT?

Each camping tent has been designed for specific use.  You must first determine what season of the year you will use this temporary habitat. Depending on the model, the tent will be more resistant to weather, UV or cold temperatures. Then it's up to you to assess your priorities. Do you want an ultra-lightweight model that is easy to mount or offers maximum comfort?

As can be seen on this selection of camping tents, this equipment comes in different sizes. The first aspect to choose it well is to take into account the number of beds you need. The camping tent can thus offer one to 10 places for the larger ones with a curtain separating between each room. In general, it is advisable to choose a model with an extra room as this gives you extra storage space to put furniture, food or to receive a surprise guest.

In addition to sleeping, also take into account the living space, that is, the space you have outside the rooms. It serves you to eat your meals for example. And, it is good to know that this one is not proportional to the number of rooms.

AUTOPORTANT CAMPING TENT

The advantage of the freestanding tent canvas is that it stands on its own without sardines or cables, making it easy to assemble it, which only takes a few minutes. This is often the case with domed igloo tents. In addition, it allows to move it without having to disassemble it. It can be installed on stony soils or sand.

Conversely, the non-free-standing tent such as the tunnel model must be attached to the ground and cables are required for its assembly. A soil where sardines can be planted is essential. However, if it seems to have the disadvantage of the assembly, it is done quickly and easily.

CAMPING TENT: FACE THE WEATHER

The camping tent allows you to sleep away from the wind, the rain, the sun... For it to provide you with a good level of protection, you need to ensure that it is waterproof when you choose it. The unit that allows it to be measured is called schmerbers. It is considered waterproof from 1,200 schmerbers.

The second criterion for judging the effectiveness of its protection is its resistance to wind. This is measured on the 13-degree Beaufort scale. For example, a Wind Force 9 camping tent can withstand winds of up to 88 km/h. At the top level, it can withstand winds of 102 km/h without damage.

It is therefore important to know if the place where you plan to camp is subject to strong winds or is protected in order to choose the right model.

CAMPING TENT: THE RIGHT MATERIALS

There are three main materials that can make up the canvas of your camping tent. Polyester is the cheapest material, but while it is waterproof, it is not UV-resistant and does not provide insulation. Polycoton is the right compromise to provide good insulation against heat and cold. Finally, cotton, resists UV and all weather but it has the disadvantage of making the tent quite heavy.

The quality of the canvas has an impact on the price. So it all depends on the level of protection you want and the budget you can spend on this purchase. You have to find the best value for money.

If you're going to the mountains, the ideal bivouac tent is dome-shaped. The tents can accommodate 1, 2, 3 or more people. This equipment is essential for family camping, trekking or expedition in the high mountains. It is therefore important to take the time to make the right choice, in order to make the most of your outdoor activity.
